Eyebrow waxing?

Yes, I know, I'm one of those unfortunate women that has bushy eyebrows. I'm tired of it and want to get rid of the bushy-ness. I want to wax my brows into smaller arches, but I have some questions. If anybody can please truthfully answer, I'd be so happy! Thanks!!

1. Is waxing okay for acne-prone skin? My skin stays completely clear until I get allergic to something, and then I'll sometimes get a few zits. Will waxing help make zits appear?

2. How much does waxing cost?

3. How do I tell if the person doing the wax job is good? What should I expect? How do I tell if a place is really decent and will do a good job?

4. How much does it really hurt?

5. After the waxing, should I expect irritation?Eyebrow waxing?
Wouldn't start waxing the brows unless you really need to or plan to keep it up! Stick with plucking them if you can get by with it..

1. Waxing is okay for acne prone skin, but then you go on to ask about allergic reactions, these are different conditions.. As long as you aren't allergic to any thing thats in the wax you will be fine. Do you ever get zits by your eyebrows though?

2. Costs depend on what part of the U.S you live in, anywhere from $6-$20, call some hair salons and ask the price for an eyebrow wax. Don't overpay.

3. You need to ask around, ask your friends where to go and where not to go.. Word of mouth is the best advertisment.. As long as the person you go to is a licensed cosmetologist you should be fine.. I have heard horror stories from girls who have went to Lazarus and Dillards and had the whole eyebrow accidentally waxed off, the girl who told me this actually had to use an eyebrow pencil to fill in the rest until it grew back out..

4. It hurts but you get all of it done at one time, verses plucking them out one by one.. The pain is one of those sudden shocks then one minute later it no longer hurts.. Have the person start with the top of your eyebrow instead of the lower section.. If you need the space between your eyebrows waxed have them do it first it hurts a lot less!! The very first time you have it done is going to hurt the worst, when you go back for touch ups its not bad at all!!

5. YES, they should have something there to get rid of the redness and burning/irritation, if they DO NOT, then go elsewhere to have it done. Basically ANY place that does that professionally should have all the proper products, and education needed to perform a painless wax..

Now, you will be fine, and VERY happy that you took the plunge.. It can make the BIGGEST difference in your overall appearance..

**Good Luck**Eyebrow waxing?
Hi,

To answer your questions, from my experience with waxing:

1. How do your eyebrows react to tweezing? I found when I got mine done for the first time, the after effects were very much the same, as if I'd just done a bulk-tweezing. Waxing shouldn't encourage acne.

2. Some places offer eyebrow waxing as a bonus when you get something else done. Often brow waxing can cost anywhere between $5-$15, depending where you go.

3. Ask to see if they have any photos of previous work, or if they have any clients booked that day to get their brows done. If they're proud of their work, they'll show you examples. A way to check for decency is by asking what the procedure involves. No one knows how everything works instantly! Ask to see where it would be done, make sure that quality products will be used. And remember that a high price doesn't necessarily correlate with high quality.

4. I usually get my brows waxed in the same session as other things, and I get my brows done last. In comparison to everything else, brow waxing is a tickle. If you have a low pain threshold (ie. you feel pain easily or have sensitive skin) you may feel some discomfort, but it goes away after a very short while.

5. Expect the same amount of irritation that you'd get from tweezing. You might experience some redness, but nothing severe.

Hope that helps. =)
1. Depends, you have to ask the person what kind of wax they are using and if its for sensitive skin. It does not remove zits however.

2. Waxing does not cost much between $10-15.

3. If the place is very empty, that must mean that its customer satisfaction is not big and therefore customers do not return (even though that is not always the case.) Try to see first pictures of how the eyebrows will come out and if they are pretty it must mean they do a good job!

4. It hurts for the first time but it is totally worth it!

5. You should expect a little bit of irritation not much though.
its cheap, i think no more than 10 bucks if u get it done at one of those nail salons, and it doesnt hurt bad, unless uve never plucked befor, but it doesnt hurt that much at all, and i doubt ull have an alergic reaction to it
when you go in let them know what it is that you want. i havent personally known a person to get waxed and gotten a bad job.

it will hurt a little it is like taking off a bandaid really fast

there will be some irritation. but you can put on some ice and that will fix you right up.

cost, call and find out. almost all places are different.
1.if u hav pimples in ur eye brows dont even try it. other than that go ahead girl n get em

2.ultimatly depends...if u go to a proper town it will cost a lot. If not, it should b anywhere round a bout 8 dollars

3.if ur eyebrows are even....check to see if they are certified.

4. it doesnt hurt a lot unless ur tender in that area

5.depends on ur skin but it rely shudnt
1.) find your allergies, and ask the ingredients used in a particular wax.

2.)Waxing cost me around $12.00 range

3.) Go to a good salon or known beauty school, maybe Horst's Academy if it's around.

4.) You may feel a pull every now and then, but it's like no big deal afterward. I've been waxing my bushy brows ever since age 9 or 10. It actually helps relieve tension in your head in my case. Also, don't forget, relax and if it helps take someone with you to hold your hand, or bring a stress ball to squeeze.

5.) You might notice redness, but that's from the hairs being pulled, and if you do notice irritation (rare ever so), you might want to consult with your doctor. Just don't worry!
I get mine done all the time. To answer your questions:

1.) No it's not that good to have your brows waxed if you have skin with acne. But no...they don't make zits appear. I don't really have acne but I do get pimples if I eat a lot of chocolate or drink soda. But I don't think getting waxed near the eyebrows are gonna make you break out.

2.) My eyebrow waxes are at the max $12.

3.) You should get suggestions from other people. The best place to go to is like a spa or a really nice and classy looking beauty salon.

4.) People over-exaggerate. It doesn't hurt at all! It feels real warm when they put the wax on (the wax that my stylist puts on is pink). And when they pull the strip off....you don't feel a thing!

5.) No....you SHOULDN'T expect any irritation. For some reason you feel like your eyes are more wide open though. (It's not a bad thing)
